That is a lot of numbers! Go Dan.
(And you'll be getting another one of those huge checks within the next year or so, right? Do you actually have a date for appearing on the show?)
It's somewhere between January 8th and January 11th of 2009; they haven't given us specific dates, other than that it'll happen at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. I'm told that the Tournament of Champions checks get sent out quite quickly (possibly before the show airs), so we won't go through all this again even if I win.
Were you afraid to touch it? I would've been. I'm not sure if it's just me, but holding large sums of money just feels terribly unnatural to me...even if it's in the form of a check or money order.
Yes! I kept thinking if I blinked it would change to what it must really say, which was $158.86. We usually throw the mail on the kitchen table but I was scared to put it in the pile so it kind of lay in the middle of the living room by itself until it was time to take it to the bank.
Damn! Is it really going to be that much in taxes, even with having Becca. I don't mind paying taxes either but it's a little mind-boggling when it is owed in such a large chunk. Love, Tia

Hahaha, oh that is too funny, but that's probably because it sounds like the very same thing I would do. Slightly irrational but I wouldn't be able to help it. In fact, I might've built a sofa cushion fort around it. You know, just in case.

And to pre-empt the question, that amount is the winnings with CA income tax deducted.

Oh, what a lovely day. Enjoy!
And reading the next post, you're both so sensible and wise. Pay off loans, buy a house--yes.
