sexy underwear
The hospital sent me home with a backpack and several bags of free stuff, including supplies for taking care of my stitches. These included a pack of my very own MESH PANTIES! They sound kind of kinky out of context. They're not - they're really stretchy so you can put in a giant pad and a padded ice pack. I switched to regular underwear shortly after getting home, so now I have a whole unopened pack. Craft ideas?
I said to the nurse how much they amused me. "Free mesh panties! Attractive!"
She laughed. "Oh yes. Victoria's Secret!" The best part is that they have small purple decorative stitching around the top. You know, in case you didn't feel pretty with the ice pack in there.
I've also got a couple nursing bras and tanks from Target. They snap open at the shoulders so you can get one boob out with maximum efficiency. The nurse who came for the at home visit watched me breastfeed to see how we were doing. Again, not kinky - she was actually the most helpful of anyone who's advised thus far. She noticed I had on a nursing bra and said, "Some women don't like to use them."
When she said that, I literally had no idea what she was talking about. "Huh?" I said. "Why not?" These things are great!
She explained that it was because they're not exactly hot and sexy lingerie. Oh. Okaaay. Because I guess it would be better to wear a lace demi bra that hooks in the back, in case you didn't feel pretty while feeding a tiny, hollering person in the dark at four in the morning. While sporting a jiggly belly and stitches south of the border. Hotness is not a priority in this house.
Yours have purple stitching? Fancy!
I still have a pair in the back of my underwear drawer. I have no idea why I kept them. In case of panty emergency?
I recommend Majamas nursing bras for around the house -- they are super comfortable, and you just pull down the cup so there's nothing to fasten. (I always had trouble snapping the other type of nursing bra back up when I was done -- not a big deal at home, but kind of a problem when you're trying to be discreet in public and you're juggling a baby in one hand and fumbling around inside your shirt with the other.)

Memory quilt? LOL! You could get super-creative and use them for an art-deco memory book (cut out a square and stretch it tight, glue it down, then lay one of Becca's baby pics on top. Voila, instant texture!)
I've never been one to do the matching lacy bra and panties thing so I didn't get that either but apparently there are two kinds of women out there. The ones who care and the ones who don't. Um, yeah, still really not getting the need to spend $60 on a bra... (especially on my tiny little 38B's).
I found that JC Penney carried some practical and comfy ones that were relatively pretty, too.

Yeah, not exactly a sexy time of life. I sure didn't feel the need for my boobs to look sexy while my stitched up girl parts were still hemorrhaging for the next several weeks.
Actually, the nursing bras I got at Target were pretty nice. They're lacy, not granny-esque at all like the panties I'd been wearing for months!
